The School of Resources and Environmental Engineering organized a series of discussions on science and technology innovation to gain a command and act on the guidelines of Xi Jinping’s important exposition on sci-tech innovation, further advance the reform of sci-tech governance system, comprehensively improve the ability of sci-tech innovation, and promote “the Double First Class Project”.
On May 27th, Zheng Guanghong, Director of Social Development Department of the Shanghai Science and Technology Committee (STCSM), along with his delegation, was invited to guide the discussion on the integration of Shanghai’s scientific and technological needs and university achievements. On the afternoon of June 15th, a work promotion conference for the science and technology innovation discussion was held. Liu Haifeng, Vice President of the University’s Scientific Research Institute, Xiu Guangli, Party Committee Secretary of the school, Wang Hualin, Dean of the school, and Chen Xueli, Associate Dean attended the meeting. The conference, presided over by Sun Yuzhu, Vice Dean of the school. Conference was arranged online and offline, and attracted more than 40 experts including the person in charge of the scientific research base, professors and young academic scholars.
Sun Yuzhu introduced the activity arrangement of the science and technology innovation discussion of the university and school. Liu Haifeng, on behalf of the Scientific Research Institute, introduced the background of the discussion, indicating that we should further develop advantageous disciplines and upgrade key core technologies under the guidance of the national major strategy and the “14th five-year plan” science and technology innovation plan of the university.
The attendants actively expressed their views on the “14th five-year plan” and the long-term development goals of the school, making suggestions on refining scientific research direction, strengthening basic research, emphasizing social needs, improving academic evaluation system, integrating internal and external resources, cultivating discipline growth points, and promoting the growth of young teachers. Finally, Wang Hualin made a concluding speech, in which he encouraged young academics to identify the direction of scientific research and innovation, adhere to the primary task of teaching and educating, focus on the goal of discipline development and construction, and strive to improve the ability of scientific research and innovation.
The school attaches great importance to the science and technology innovation discussion. A working group and a work plan have been formulated in the early stage, and a series of discussions will be carried out in the future.
