From August 27th to 30th, the national finals of the 13th National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction were held at Chongqing University. The students from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering presented two projects: (i) “Development of a Solar-Driven Water Treatment Material”, supervised by Teachers Cai Zhengqing and Sun Xianbo and made by He Weiyu, Fan Jialu and other students won the National Second Prize; (ii) “Sewage Nitrogen Energy Recovery Technology”, guided by Teacher Li Wei and made by Xiao Wanzi, Yu Jiayu, etc. won the third prize.
With the help of ECUST’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, School of Resources and Environmental Engineering organized the intra-campus trial. The competition was launched in May 2020. A total of 25 submissions from more than 100 students from seven colleges including School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, School of Chemical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Social and Public Administration, School of Business, and Sino-German College of Technology were collected. On June 23, an intramural competition was held in the form of online defense. Five internal and external experts including Gao Jihui, Lu Xilan, Jin Zhichao, Li Ping, and Shi Hongrui were invited as potential judges to comment and guide each team, and 15 teams were selected to represent ECUST to participate in the national competition. Finally, we got one second prize and one third prize in the national competition and the school was awarded as the Excellent Organization Award.
The 13th National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction is National first-class event sponsored by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. The theme of this contest is “Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, The Green Energy Recourse”. More than 22,000 participants form 427 universities have participated in this contest with 4138 projects being submitted. Both the number of participated universities and submissions hit a record high.
