On the morning of October 14, Professor Liu Ruiping of Tsinghua University was invited to give an academic report entitled “Principles of Heterogeneous Transformation and Control of Typical Pollutants in Drinking Water” at the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology. The report was presided by Associate Professor Cui Changzheng, with more than 30 teachers and students from the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences and the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering.

In the report, Professor Liu focused on the safety of drinking water. Taking the control of drinking water arsenic pollution, algae and its metabolites as examples, he talked about how to do applied research, explaining in detail the issues to be studied, existing technical solutions, and how to break through the bottleneck, establish engineering schemes, carry out pilot studies, adjust and optimize schemes in the application process, extend application, industrialization and other research ideas and method systems. All points he talked about were extremely important.
In the interactive session, the teachers and students enthusiastically asked questions and conducted in-depth discussions on issues of shared concern, such as the core technical bottleneck issues in engineering applications, scientific issues, and how to do applied research. Everyone said that this lecture broadened their horizons and allowed them to gain a clearer understanding of the principle of heterogeneous transformation and control of typical pollutants in drinking water.
