On November 17, Dr. Zhang Shanshan, editor of One Earth, was invited to hold a meeting at School of Resources and Environmental Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology, where she shared her experience in journal writing and submission. The meeting was hosted by Yang Xuejing, associate research fellow, with more than 20 teachers and students, including Associate Professor Cui Changzheng from the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences, Associate Professor Yu Yadong from the School of Business, and Teacher Xu Xiao from the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering.

In the meeting, Dr. Zhang first gave an introduction of the development and positioning of One Earth, including the journal’s submission requirements by dividing journal articles into several parts. She suggested that researchers should clarify the practical significance of their own scientific research and be committed in promoting social development. Then, based on her own experiences as a journal’s editor, Dr. Zhang explained in detail the writing skills and submission points of the paper in terms of language expression, writing logic, innovation, and research significance, inspiring students with new ideas about how to publish high-quality academic papers.

During the interactive session, the teachers and students enthusiastically discussed with Dr. Zhang on how to better integrate engineering research and sustainable development policies based on their own projects. After the meeting, students sincerely expressed that they have learned valuable writing experience and ideas and are full of confidence for future articles.

 

 

Attachment: Introduction of Dr. Zhang

Dr. Zhang graduated from Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet, Sweden, with a PhD in Energy Economics and Policy. She was an assistant professor at the School of Humanities, Economics and Law at Northwestern Polytechnical University. At present, she is the scientific editor of One Earth (Beijing Office), the flagship environmental science journal of Cell Press. She is in charge of energy and city related topics of this journal. In addition, she is highly committed in advancing the research on energy innovation, urban development, climate change and other interdisciplinary disciplines to offer an effective scientific solutions for sustainable development and environmental challenges.
