School of Resources and Environmental Engineering held the opening ceremony of freshmen in Fengxian campus on September 18. Presided over by Prof. Rao Zhixiong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, this opening ceremony was a great success with the attendance of Prof. Xiu Guangli, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Wang Hualing, dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Ms. Cao Na, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Prof. Sun Xianbo, Prof. Sun Yuzhu and Prof. Chen Xueli, associate dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Zhang Suping, head of the Department of Energy Chemical Engineering, all class tutors and 356 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The ceremony began with the solemn national anthem. Prof. Wang then expressed his sincere hopes to the new students.
Prof. Sun Xianbo, Chen Xueli and Sun Yuzhu talked about regulations, international exchange and research development in detail. They encouraged students to plan their college life and work hard to realize their dreams. On behalf of the senior students, Doctoral students Zhu Huiwen and Ma Hui, as a model for the freshmen, hoped them can enjoy study and make contribution to the whole society. Freshman representatives, Lou Chaonan and undergraduate Han Yanlong mentioned “people of ECUST share the same goal” in their speeches. They believed that students in ECUST, though study in different majors, all shoulder the the mission of the Times and will make contributions for a better China. Prof. Zhen Huajun, the teacher representative, said that he would work together with the students to create a better future for ECUST.
Also, there was a special part for conscription students in 2019. On behalf of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Ms. Cao Na presented red flowers and souvenirs to the three recruits. With the hope that the enlisted students can inherit the spirit of the long march to contribute to the motherland, the school offered them the book Red Star Over China.
At last, Prof. Xiu Guangli said that he hoped all the students can broaden their horizons, be benevolent and respect the seniors. He expected that all the students can start their new journey in ECUST, find what they really love and waste no time to realize their dreams. He wished all the students can be recorded in the honor board in ECUST.
