The Environmental Protection Association of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering Successfully Organized the Arbor Day Activities

On the afternoon of March 17th in 2016, the Environmental Protection Association of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering organized a set of Arbor Day activities, which attracted a large number of volunteers who loved public welfare and environmental protection.

At the beginning, the head of the tree planting activity briefly introduced the saplings and the planting methods to the participants. Later, participants began to plant saplings following the four steps, digging pits, planting saplings, filling pits and compacting. Though the weather was a little chilly, the participants were in high spirits and carefully planted their own saplings, imagining that the saplings would become towering trees in the wind and rain.

The participants took a photo with saplings.

After the tree planting activity, the students attended a lecture held by Shanghai Roots and Shoots. The volunteers of the lecture shared their laborious experience in organizing tree planting activities in Northwest China, which inspired respect. Time passes quickly in the communication and interactive games. At last, it was the question-and-answer part. The organizers patiently answered students’ questions and made them know more about the “Roots and Shoots” project.
