The Sub-forum of the “ 2018 Huixian International Forum for Young Scholars” Held by the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering Ended
From June 21st to June 23rd, the Sub-forum of the “2018 Huixian International Forum for Young Scholars ” of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) has been successfully held by the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering. The theme of this Sub-forum is that “innovation defines the future, and good ecology creates civilization”. Thirteen young talented scholars from renowned universities and research institutes at home and aboard, such as University of California, Monash University, Lule University of Technology, Research Center Juelich, Osaka University, National University of Singapore, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Chinese Academy of Science, were invited to gather in our school to discuss and study the frontier fields, hot research areas and industrial technical problems about the international resources, energy and environment. Cheng Jiagao, the Deputy Director of the Personnel Department of ECUST, was invited to attend the forum. And more than 50 teachers and students in our school attended the Sub-forum. The Sub-forum was hosted by Professor Chen Xueli, the Associate Dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering.

At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the university, Chen Jiagao expressed his sincere gratitude and warm welcome to all the young scholars at home and abroad. And he gave a detailed introduction to the development status and the talent introduction policy of the university. He hoped that the Forum could be a platform for the exchange between the university and young scholars at home and board, and also looked forward to more talents joining the ECUST. Xiu Guangli, the Dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, introduced the development history, scientific research achievements, talent-cultivation work and team-building work of the school, and he also sent a sincere invitation to the young scholars. Later, professors from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, such as Professor Wang Hualin, Professor Yu Guangsuo, Professor Lin Kuangfei, Professor Song Xingfu, Professor Zhang Suping and Associate Professor Zhang Yuehua, gave the invited lectures separately and introduced their own research teams.

At the academic conference, thirteen young scholars made brilliant reports about their education experience, research achievements and frontier fields of their majors. And they made academic discussions with the teachers and students. After the conference, the young scholars were invited to visit the laboratories of the school.
During the Forum, members of the talents working group and our school’s leaders had job interviews with ten young scholars, and had in-depth communications about their concerning matters like directions of disciplines, research platforms and talents treatments. It played a significant role in building a “talents reservoir” and a research platform for interdisciplinary and collaborative innovation.
