As the whole country is thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the 9th Symposium on Promotion and Application of Opposed Multi-Nozzle Gasification Technology, co-hosted by our university, Shandong Energy Group Co., Ltd. and the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, was held in Jinan, Shandong Province from November 12 to 14. More than 270 industry participants, including contracted users of opposed multi-nozzle gasification technology from all over the country, elites from coal chemical enterprises, experts from scientific research institutes and representatives from engineering companies, gathered together to participate in this grand event in the field of gasification technology.

Li Yongwu, former President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Liu Qiang, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Energy Group Co., Ltd., and Shen Haitao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, respectively delivered opening speeches, and Li Zhijian, Vice President of the China National Petroleum & Chemical Planning Institute, delivered a special invited report for the Symposium. On behalf of East China University of Science and Technology, Deputy Secretary Shen Haitao extended a warm welcome to all leaders, experts and guests, and stated that the long-term cooperation between Shandong Energy Group Co., Ltd. and East China University of Science and Technology has cultivated a collaborative innovation team featuring strong-strong combination and complementary advantages, and both parties have jointly established scientific research bases such as national key laboratories and national engineering centers. The team has always taken innovation as its soul, built an innovation ecosystem with in-depth integration of industry, university, research and application, providing solid technical support and talent guarantee for the transformation and upgrading of China's energy industry. President Li Yongwu stated that East China University of Science and Technology and Shandong Energy Group have implemented national science and technology and industrial policies, carried out industry-university-research cooperation, and developed the opposed multi-nozzle coal-water slurry gasification technology with independent intellectual property rights, making positive and important contributions to promoting the structural adjustment and mode transformation of the whole industry and maintaining stable development. Deputy General Manager Liu Qiang stated that this year's Symposium coincides with the 20th anniversary of the successful commissioning and operation of the opposed multi-nozzle coal-water slurry gasification technology demonstration plant and the 30th anniversary of the university-enterprise cooperation between Shandong Energy Group and East China University of Science and Technology, which has important milestone significance. As an industry-university-research-application cooperation and exchange platform serving enterprise users, engineering design units, equipment manufacturing companies, and scientific research institutes, it will continue to play its role as a communication bridge and bond, and strive to become an important engine driving coal gasification technological innovation and industrial upgrading. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Wang Fuchen of our university. Team members including Professor Yu Guangsuo, Professor Liu Haifeng, Professor Wang Yifei, and Professor Chen Xueli from our Institute of Clean Coal Technology attended the Symposium.
This Symposium closely focuses on the core theme of the innovative development of gasification technology under the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goal, and has set up a total of 28 reports and 1 special session for operation experience exchange and discussion, aiming to pool industry wisdom and promote the high-quality development of gasification technology in the new era. The participating representatives actively shared the operation and management experience in the operation process of gasification units, and reported the technical optimization measures in detail, providing an important guarantee for the long-term safe and stable operation of opposed multi-nozzle gasification units. Professor Wang Yifei of our university delivered a report entitled Development History and Application Progress of Opposed Multi-Nozzle Gasification Technology, focusing on the latest technological R&D and engineering application progress achieved by our university in the field of opposed multi-nozzle gasification technology, demonstrating the university's profound technical accumulation and innovation strength in this field. Since the first opposed multi-nozzle gasification technology symposium was held in 2007, our university has held 17 symposia, and has established a sound university-enterprise cooperation technical exchange platform to share the achievements of gasification development, further enhancing the university's influence in the industry.
Against the current background of comprehensive and clean utilization of coal and green and efficient development of the coal chemical industry, the opposed multi-nozzle gasification technology jointly developed by our university and Shandong Energy Group Co., Ltd. (formerly Yankuang Group Co., Ltd.) has been successfully commercialized for 20 years since the first 1000-ton per day demonstration unit was put into operation in 2005. At present, this technology has been promoted and applied to 77 engineering projects and 223 sets of gasifiers at home and abroad, among which 136 sets of units have been put into operation. With the successive stable operation of the gasification unit with a single furnace daily coal treatment capacity of 2000 tons adopting waste heat boiler-quench process and the 3000-ton per day entrained-flow pulverized coal gasification unit, the opposed multi-nozzle gasification technology has been further improved in terms of industrial demonstration, production energy efficiency, single furnace scale, process performance indicators, stability and reliability. The successful development and application of this series of large-scale gasification technologies has established our internationally leading position in the field of entrained-flow gasification technology, and provides important technical support for the green and low-carbon development of China's modern coal chemical industry.
The successful holding of this Symposium injects new vitality into the further development of opposed multi-nozzle gasification technology, and promotes China's coal chemical industry to a new height under the guidance of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goal.
