To promote the pilot construction of the comprehensive reform of the mechanism for fostering virtue through education, further enhance the internationalization level of the school, and promote in-depth cooperation in cross-campus scientific research innovation, student training and other aspects, on January 19, a delegation led by Xiu Guangli, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) for exchange and research. Li Shuncheng, Acting Head of the Thrust of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at the Function Hub and Professor of the Thrust of Sustainable Energy and Environment at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), participated in the exchange. Cao Na, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, Zhang Wei, Associate Professor, and Cao Yue, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee, participated in the survey. Luo Rui, a doctoral student currently studying at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (a 2021 master's graduate of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering), and Wang Tingting, a master's student (a 2021 bachelor's graduate of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering), also participated in the exchange.
The delegation from the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering visited laboratories and platforms such as the Atmospheric Environmental Risk Characterization and Management Laboratory, the Central Laboratory for Sustainable Atmospheric Environment, the Indoor Photochemical Simulation Chamber and the intelligent control system, learned in detail about the relevant conditions of the university's hubs and thrusts, investigated the enrollment and training mode of the Red Bird Master's Program (RBM) and visited the student co-creation space. Professor Xiu Guangli gave a special academic exchange report titled Characteristics of Ozone Pollution in the Hangzhou Bay Area and Progress of VOCs Control Standards. Cao Na, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and Cao Yue, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee, held a discussion and exchange with relevant responsible teachers from the university's student affairs, dormitory management, psychological center and career guidance center on aspects such as undergraduate and postgraduate student training, one-stop community management, college system construction, mental health education, and university-enterprise industry-education integration.
Both parties reached a consensus on continuing to deepen exchanges and cooperation. In the future, they will carry out mutual visits and learning in aspects such as interdisciplinary empowerment, scientific research cooperation and innovation, international exchanges, student social practice, innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and joint postgraduate training, to promote the in-depth integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation.
