At the important node of the Day of Commemoration of Lei Feng, Tree Planting Day, World Water Day and Chinese Water Week, etc. in March, the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering, depended on the Young Volunteer Association of the school, the Association of Research on Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization, Environmental Protection Association, etc., organized undergraduates and postgraduates to carry out voluntary services and popularization practices themed ecological civilization, with diversified formats and rich content, and assisted teachers, students, and citizens in the community in improving their literacy of ecological civilization to learn and implement Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization and the spirit of the General Secretary Xi Jinping's narration about water governance in depth.
The Young Volunteer Association of the school successively carried out the activities of voluntary spirit and ecological civilization thought publicity and practice, such as Nurturing Heart with Resources and Embracing Warmth with Environment, Funding A Greening Place and Restoring A Good Environment to the Global Village, Sparing No Effort to Save, etc., conducted the practices of aesthetic education, drew the spirit with brushes, and delivered concepts with actions. The school guided students to write the slogans of the voluntary spirit on wooden boards and hung them around in the university for teachers and students to take photos and deliver the spirit of Lei Feng. It also created logos related to the Tree Planting Day and organized knowledge quizzes. The school also conducted publicity themed Water Saving and Conservation and let students jointly sign an environmental protection proposal.
On March 22, the World Water Day, the Voluntary Service Team of the Beautiful and Young River of the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering was invited to attend the themed publicity activity of 2025 World Water Day and Chinese Water Week, with the theme of Prospering the City of Water with Intelligence and Activating Xuhui with Greening Measures beside Puhui Pond, Xuhui District. The voluntary service team and 15 units, including the Committee of Construction Management of Xuhui District (the Bureau of Water Affairs), the Bureau of Ecological Environment of the District, the Bureau of City Greening of the District, etc., joined the bazaar of popularization and publicity of the Theme of Water. The students of the voluntary service team prepared little interactive experiments of water quality testing, environmental-protection quizzes, environmental-protection capsules, etc., for citizens. There was a continuous stream of citizens who participated in the activity. They comprehended the charm of water science and technology while learning and playing and learned abundant environmental-protection knowledge.
The environmental-protection association, Green Zone, organized the environmental-protection public benefit activity themed Chasing Light: One Hour on the Earth in the evening of March 25 in the Fengxian Campus. The Front Square of the Center of College Student Activities was taken as the starting point, and six checkpoints, including the Gymnasium, E-education Hall, the north part of the Library, the University Hospital, the Second Canteen, etc. could be passed. Through fluorescent night running, orienteering, and credit exchange, the activity called students to join physical exercises and lead a low-carbon life with actual behavior. Students were enthusiastic. The activity attracted about 150 participants, and the total mileage of running was longer than 450 kilometers.
In the future, the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering will continue to take Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization as the guidance and simultaneous conduction of education in five fields, e the implementation of the practices and activities of ecological civilization in the new era, carry out ecological civilization through communication, water resource conservation, and water saving popularization and publicity, and make the contribution of youth to the construction of a beautiful China.
