The School of Resource and Environmental Engineering organized teachers and students to carry out the themed activity on World Earth Day to learn and implement Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization in depth. On April 22, teachers and students of the school were invited to the Walt Disney Theatre to attend the national conservation forum themed Our Homeland.
Zhao Yahui, a national geographic explorer of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, took Pursuing Known and Unknown Matters: Cave Fishes as the theme to share his experience of exploration. Representatives and guests from Shanghai Science Popularization Education Development Foundation, International Crane Foundation, World Wide Fund For Nature, WildBound, Spoon-billed Sandpiper in China, and other non-profit organizations, also conducted round-table discussion regarding the way natural experience influences environmental protection, shared their feelings and understandings obtained in natural exploration, as well as the way these experiences aroused their profound understanding of environmental protection, emphasized the important role of popularization and education in the cultivation of the awareness of environmental protection of the public, and encouraged young people to join the cause of natural conservation.
Teachers and students of the school also attended the traditional event of Earth Month held in Disney Town, the Bazaar of Eulogy for Earth. Through a series of elaborately planned booths themed as environmental protection and interactive activities rich in educational significance, the bazaar comprehensively and profoundly displayed the application of the concept of environmental protection in the fields of garbage classification, water resource saving, natural exploration, etc. Teachers and students were deeply inspired and felt the importance of the responsibility and the glorious mission of ecological civilization construction.
In the Fengxian Campus, the Youth League Committee of the school organized students to carry out the activity themed the Four-season Pastoral Song on Plaster: Making Voices for the Earth with Colors. It adopted vivid pictures and texts to show existing environmental problems to students and shared low-carbon life tips to strengthen all students' awareness of environmental protection. At the same time, students used plaster painting and took the earth, green trees, and other environmental-protection elements as the themes to create, thus deepening their thinking about ecological conservation in artistic practice.
After the event was over, all students said that they would integrate the environmental protection knowledge and concepts they learned into daily life, actively strengthen professional study, and personally contribute to the sustainable development of the earth.
