The School of Resource and Environmental Engineering Holds the Seventh Series of Events of the "Festival of Ecological Environment"

The School of Resource and Environmental Engineering closely followed the overall deployment of the 34th Festival of Thinking and Academy, depended on the popular topics of festival publicity, including the World Environment Day, the National Low-carbon Day, the National Week of Energy Saving Publicity, etc., organized and held the serial and themed events of the Seventh Festival of Ecological Environment, and guided teachers, students, and the public to become the advocates, ers, and practitioners of green and low-carbon development through study tours in international exhibitions, specially themed industrial lectures, special exhibitions of ecological civilization, interesting experiments for scientific popularization, practices of labor education and aesthetic education, community publicity events, etc., to learn and publicize the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in depth, practice Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization, and continuously develop school-based featured projects.


Focus on the Cutting-edge Field: International Horizon and Professional Navigation


On the World Environment Day (June 5), the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering organized undergraduates and postgraduates to take a study tour in the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo 2025 to learn about the industrial and technical cutting-edge information of six sectors, energy transformation, low-carbon traffic, energy saving and efficiency improvement, cyclic economy, low-carbon service, and practical exploration, and learn the system of carbon emission statistics and accounting, supportive policies for green finance, and other knowledge about inclusive carbon measures.


The school specially invited Bruce Rittmann, an Academician of the National Academy of Engineering of America and a Professor and a member of the board of directors of the Arizona State University, Professor Li Shuncheng of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chang Qigang, a senior technical expert of AE2S and an alumnus of our university, and other specialists and scholars to attended the grand forum of E Era: Gathering All Schools of Thoughts to center on the fields of new pollutant disposal, atmospheric pollution governance, water supply treatment engineering application, etc., to interact and communicate with teachers and students.


Scientific Popularization Innovation: Interesting Experiment and Aesthetic Education Practice


The School of Resource and Environmental Engineering carried out a series of scientific popularization and practical activities themed Letting Plastic Bag Reduction Lead Low-carbon Practice in the Fengxian Campus from May to June. In the activity of Classifying All Plastic Articles and Putting them in the Due Places, garbage classification skills were popularized in the whole university. In the activity of Battling against Plastics and Greening the Future, interactive question answering was organized to publicize environmental protection knowledge and require teachers and students to contribute to the green and sustainable development of the university with their actual deeds. Two interesting experiments, Affection for Green Soaps: Producing Soaps with Waste Olive Oil and Degrading Plastics for Nature by Using Membranes, guided students to explore practical approaches to environmental protection. Two activities, Reusing Used Pipes to Reduce Plastics with Skillful Hands and Turning Waste Bottles to New and Beautiful Items, focused on the important significance of plastic waste reutilization and took aesthetic education as the entry point to e people's in-depth acceptance of the sustainable concept.


Moreover, the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering planned a series of exhibitions of ecological civilization in the Fengxian Library on the 20th anniversary of the theory of two mountains. Through elaborately designed exhibition content and interactive format, the exhibitions focused on theoretical publicity and knowledge popularization to attract teachers and students to visit.


 Serve the University Location: The Integration of Voluntary Practice and Education


On May 15, the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering and the Logistics Warranty Office jointly hosted the publicity event themed Exerting All Efforts for Energy Saving and Exploring the Future with Carbon and adopted edutainment formats, including themed display boards, knowledge competitions, energy-saving treasure hunting games, etc., to popularize the knowledge of the low-carbon life, water saving, etc., e green traffic modes, arouse teachers and students' enthusiasm for participating in energy saving and carbon lowering, and assist the construction of a green campus. On June 3, the volunteers of the Voluntary Service Team of the Beautiful and Young River of the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering and the General Team of Link-based Law Enforcement of Shanghai jointly carried out a voluntary activity of scientific popularization to citizens and adopted VR display technology to digitally and intelligently empower environmental-protection knowledge popularization.


On May 21, the teachers and students of the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering were invited to attend the 2025 Low-carbon Development Promotion Meeting of Haiwan County. They centered on the theme of practicing the green and low-carbon concept and constructing a beautiful Haiwan County and focused on the themes related to Biodiversity to participate in research and discussion. On June 20, the teachers and students of the school were invited by the Unit of the Alliance of Ecological Civilization Practice of Higher Learning Institutions in Haiwan County and Shanghai Institute of Technology to attend the opening ceremony of the 2025 Daylily Cultural Festival and establish the Daylily Cultural Education Alliance of Higher Learning Institutions and add a new driving force to the expansion of educational platforms and resources together with 15 higher learning institutions, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, etc.


 

In the future, the School of Resource and Environmental Engineering will continue to dig deep into the educational brand, closely center on the national goal, Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality, expand the educational community, deepen the practice of ecological civilization, and guide students to contribute their young power to the construction of a beautiful China.
