The National Center of Energy Coal-gasification Technology Research and Development Engineering was constructed by the National Energy Administration in East China University of Science and Technology. Its foundation was approved in August 2014.


The research and development center closely centers on the material strategic demands for efficient and clean utilization of coal faced by national economy, social development, and national energy safety, strengthens the studies of advanced coal gasification technology application and result transformation by researching and developing the construction of relevant platforms, enhances the capacity for independent innovation of core coal-gasification technology of China, and es advanced coal-gasification technology to be large-scale, cleaning-efficient, and serial, and reach and surpass the leading level in the world.


The research and development center has successfully developed serial, large-scale, and cleaning-efficient sets of multi-nozzle opposed, top single-nozzle and other entrained flow coal-gasification techniques, with the capacity for total feed coal treatment and single-furnace daily coal treatment quantity that rank the top in the world. It realized the extensive application of the technology of coal-water slurry gasification of 4000 tons of coal per furnace, which is the biggest scale in the world. It also developed a long-service-life and efficient coal-water slurry gasification nozzle, with a service life of about 200 days. The research and development center finished the industrial demonstration of large-scale pulverized coal gasification for inferior feed coal with a high ash fusion point and a high ash content and ed the large-scale transformation of traditional fuels, Huainan coal with a high ash fusion point and a high ash content, to make it become a raw material. It also constructed the synthetic gas production device of oxidizing the non-catalyzed part of coke-oven gas, with the capacity to treat the biggest quantity of coke-oven gas in the world (75000 Nm3/h), which powerfully supported and ed the green and low-carbon development of energy and chemical engineering industries in China. The center has been a research institute that holds the gasification technology of three raw materials, namely coal-water slurry, pulverized coal, and gaseous hydrocarbon, and the center has won 2 Second Prizes of National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, 3 Provincial Grand Prizes, and 10 Provincial First Prizes.
