Introduction

The construction of the National Key Laboratory of Environmental Risk Evaluation and Control for Chemical Engineering Processes of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment was approved in July 2008, and the undertaking unit was East China University of Science and Technology. Focusing on highly dangerous and toxic chemical substance pollution of China's chemical engineering processes, the key laboratory targets cutting-edge issues in the field of ecological environment in the world and the country's strategic demands, centers on the green development of chemical engineering, takes quantitative identification and evaluation of environmental risks caused by chemical engineering processes as the basis, conducts research on the basic theories and application techniques related to environmental pollution control and emission reduction during chemical engineering processes, industrial waste reclamation and utilization, chemical engineering site pollution mechanisms and restoration, risks and restoration in the chemical engineering processes, and provides a basis of scientific decision making and technical support for China's environmental protection during chemical engineering processes.

 

Research Direction

1The coordinated technology of full-process environmental pollution control, pollution reduction, and carbon reduction during chemical engineering processes

 The laboratory carries out research on the characteristics of pollution emission during chemical engineering processes and common technology control, and it intensively researches clean production techniques that control the source and the procedure.

2Industrial waste and greenhouse gas reclamation and recycling technology

 Facing the reclamation of bulk industrial waste, the laboratory researches and develops advanced separation technology and efficient transformation technology for high-concentration waste liquid, high-salt-content wastewater (liquid), and waste catalysts.

3Multi-medium chemical site pollution joint governance and green restoration technology

 The laboratory intensively researches the emission of permanent organic pollutants, volatile organics, and other toxic and harmful substances in displaced and in-service plants and multi-medium environment transfer and transformation behavior.

 (4) Complex system risk evaluation in chemical engineering processes and digital and intelligent governance technology

 The laboratory researches bottleneck technology, such as full-chain and full-link reactivity safety and risk evaluation in chemical engineering processes, regional ecological environment risk quantitative evaluation and emergency prewarning technology, chemical engineering park intelligent control, etc.

 

Research Team

The team of the key laboratory sticks to the reinforcement of international cooperation and university-enterprise cooperation and forms a high-quality research group that takes researchers as the core and includes a combination of young, middle-aged, and elderly researchers. At present, the team has 47 fixed members, including 24 professors/researchers, 21 associate professors, 1 specially-appointed associate researcher, and 1 lecturer. It also includes 19 floating members, including 6 international specialists employed through the Talent Introduction Program 111.

 

The key laboratory combines the policy of the talent introduction plan of the East China University of Science and Technology, Talent Gathering, holds a Talent Gathering Forum each year, and invites foreign young scholars to exchange and join it. It develops the incentive plan, Bo Le, to strengthen the cooperation and exchange with the domestic famous teams and key laboratories of the ecological environment. Moreover, it also formulates talent incentive plans and teamwork groups to encourage members to actively apply for various talent plans. In recent three years, outstanding talents have continuously emerged, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 specially-appointed processor of the Changjiang Scholar Program of the Ministry of Education, 1 winner of the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of China, 3 young scholars of the Young Changjiang Scholar Program of the Ministry of Education, 1 excellent academic leader of Shanghai, 2 winners of the Young Programs of the Eastern Talent Plan of Shanghai, 2 winners of the Top Programs of the Eastern Talent Plan of Shanghai, and 2 winners of the Young Technological Star Program of Shanghai.
